To connect your Internet terminal to WebTV Redialed over a physical landline connection, you must first make sure your terminal isn't trying to dial one of the many long-defunct WebTV/MSNTV access numbers. Upon powering on your terminal, what do you see in the bottom left?
If you see "Dialing XXX-XXX-XXXX..."
Your Internet terminal is dialing an access number, and will need to have said number reset. To reset the number your Internet terminal is dialing, unplug it from power, and plug it back in. You should see an error message with text along the lines of "If your Internet terminal is no longer calling from XXX-XXX-XXXX, choose Moved to check for local numbers." Select "Moved". This will reset your terminal's TellyScript, and begin dialing the central number.
If you see "Dialing toll free"
Your Internet terminal is not dialing an access number, and is instead trying to call the central number to obtain one.
In both scenarios, you will need to replace the number yourself, anyways. To do this, you will have to enter what is called "Spooky Dialing Options" (Obscure Dialing Options on MSNTV builds). This can be done in two ways:
If you have a keyboard
If you have a keyboard for your Internet terminal, hit the power button on it to turn your terminal off. When the green light stops flashing, type 77437 out using the number keys. The Power, Connecting and Mail lights should flash 3 times, in quick order. Turn your Internet terminal on.
If you don't have a keyboard
If you don't have a keyboard for your Internet terminal, press the power button on the remote to turn your terminal off. When the green light stops flashing, hit BACK, BACK, Up, Up, GO on your remote. The Power, Connecting and Mail lights should flash 3 times, in quick order. Turn your Internet terminal on.
When your terminal turns on, you should see a screen with 3 boxes. Find the box labeled "800 access". Type this number into the box: 14848201337, and select "Connect" at the bottom of the screen. Your terminal will begin dialing the number you just put in. With any luck, your terminal should dial into the number, and connect.
If your Internet terminal connected to WebTV Redialed
You should see a WebTV or MSN splash screen. Following this, you should be taken to registration. Follow the instructions to finish registration, and begin using WebTV Redialed! If your terminal passes registration, congratulations! You have successfully awoken your Internet terminal from it's decade long sleep! Have fun!
